There is pending legislation in both the Illinois House and Senate to fix one of those "goofy" rules in education funding.

Currently, if a School District uses federal funding to pay for teacher's salaries, their contribution rate to the Teacher's Retirement System (TRS) is a whopping 36%.  This proposed legislation would reduce that rate to the actual normal costs of approximately 7%.

This change will help put more money in the classroom where it belongs and it is a proposal that everyone can support that does not negatively impact any district.
